MN York Rite Retreat 2015

I just received a note from a good friend of mine, Russ, about this year's York Rite Retreat.

Details below:

I hope to make it out this retreat.

B.: Nick, I have been reading your blog; you are young, intelligent, educated, and passionate about Freemasonry. I get wearing the purple coat, if that's what it takes to gain support for something better, but I am completely confused about participation in a one-day class? For the love of all that is holy, why?

Anonymous,

As to the first part, the purple coat is required dress to be a Grand Council Officer. So I wear the coat because I'm supposed to.

It's a good question as to the second part of your comment. To be honest, it's a selfish reason why I participate in One Day to Masonry. Essentially, the casts assembled for it are the best in the state. So I liken it to being selected on the All Star team. So, yes, I freely acknowledge that I am a hypocrite. That's the best answer I can give you. It's not a good answer but it's the only one I have.
